Scope: C8  f/3.7,  Location: Del Mar, CA   23 and 26 July 2007  Camera: Artemis285

Exposure: 10 x 120 sec and 8 x 30 sec Luminance with IR Block Filter (bin 1x1); 8 x 60 sec RGB (1x1 bin) - On July 26.

Processing: Images were captured Artemis Capture (as FITs). Aligned/stacked in Registax 4 and saved as FITS. Luminance and Color channels were scaled and rough color balanced in Astroart. Central Gradient removal was performed in Astroart. Channels were co-registered in Astroart. The 120 sec IR block exposures were used as the main luminance construction with level adjustments and curves to bring out dim stars - the 30 second exposure was used to de-bloat the larger stars. Final LRGB combine was done in Photoshop.   Final touches were done in Photoshop.  A very light and simple surface blur was used in Photoshop for background noise reduction. A 50% faded 1 pixel minimum filter was applied to help distinguish the cluster from the smaller field stars. Final Image size is approximately 1392x1040.

North is up in this image. NGC 6871 is an open cluster located in the constellation of Cygnus. There is a central small cluster of bluish stars but the more spread out bluish stars are also cluster members.  Horizontal FOV is 40'

Image center is approximately - Equatorial 2000: RA: 20h 05m 59s Dec: +35°46'38"
