Scope: C8  f/5.3 Location: Dos Picos Park, Ramona, CA  4 July 2005 Camera: Artemis285

Exposure: 18 Images in the animation; 3x50 sec frames per image with IR block filter.

Processing: Each image was captured in Artemis Capture and stacked and aligned in Registax 3. . Each of the 18 images were  matched in alignment with Astroart along with a central gradient removal in Astroart. Exposure equalization adjustment was also made in Astroart. The 18 images were then reassembled into an animated Gif.

The image sequence shows the comet (Tempel1) as it moves through the star field. In about the second to third frame, you can see the comet brightening as a result of NASA's Deep Impact probe striking the comet. A close up view can be seen here.  Horizontal FOV is about 28'
