Scope: FSQ-106N at f/5, Location:  Pine Creek, Laguna Mountains, CA   22 September 2016  Camera: Atik 383 (Astronomik Gen II  LRGB filters)

Exposure: Exposure: 14 x 6 min, (1x1 bin) exposure with UV/IR block, 14  x 10 min (1x1) exposure with H-Alpha, 8 x 4 min (2x2 bin) RGB exposures.

Processing: Data Collection -  Sequence Generator Pro (as FITs).  Calibrated, stacked (Kappa Sigma Combine) Deep Sky Stacker, LRGB channel registration and equalization, rough color calibration  - Astroart.  Curves, Levels, RGB combine - Images Plus. Luminance layering and finishing  - Photoshop. This image is an LRGB combine with Luminance layering. The H-Alpha exposure was screen blended into the IR/UV Block exposures to create the Luminance channel. Final color calibration - eXcalibrator. Color saturation in LAB color. Native image size - 3354x2529.  Final Image size is approximately 2800x2100.

North is up in this image. This field is the NGC 7822, Sharpless 171, LBN 582 Region and lies on the border of Cepheus and Cassiopeia.  This is a strong Hydrogen emission area. The main nebula structure consists of several separately cataloged objects  including some of Lynds bright and Dark catalog objects. The upper part of the structure also has the open cluster Berkeley 59. Several of the dark regions are identified in the Dobashi Dark Nebula catalog. The overall object is also known from its entry in the Cederblad catalog (CED 214 A and B) but the original catalog has these two references as smaller parts of this overall field. These objects as well as a few of the bright stars  are identified in the annotated image. This image replaces an earlier image that can be accessed from the Archives here.   Horizontal FOV is 120'

Image center is approximately - Equatorial 2000: RA: 00h 02m 24s Dec: +67°09'46"
