M2 in Aquarius

Scope: C8  f/7.5,  Location: Dos Picos Park, Ramona CA, 4 August 2007 and , Del Mar, CA   16 August, 2007  Camera: Artemis285

Exposure: 13 x 120 sec (4 Aug)  Luminance with IR Block Filter (bin 1x1) and 8 x 90 sec (16 Aug) RGB (2x2 bin)

Processing: Images were captured Artemis Capture (as FITs). Aligned, dark subtracted, and sigma combine in Astroart. Luminance and Color channels were scaled and rough color balanced in Astroart.  Exposure sets were co-registered in Astroart. The 120 sec  IR block exposures were used as the main luminance construction.   Level adjustments and curves applied to bring out dim stars. Final LRGB combine was done in Photoshop.   Final touches were done in Photoshop.   Final Image size is approximately 1392x1040.

North is up in this image. M2 is a somewhat tight Globular Cluster in the constellation of Aquarius. It is  about 37,500  light years distant from Earth.  This image replaces an earlier image that can be seen in the Archives here.  Horizontal FOV is 20'

Image center is approximately - Equatorial 2000: RA: 21h 33m 27s Dec: -00°49'22"
